Cambridge University Announces $15M Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence

Over the next ten years, Cambridge University in the UK will be using a grant of $15M from the Leverhulme Trust to establish an academic Centre tasked to establish an academic Centre to “create an AI community with a common purpose of responsible innovation and to update the current thinking about the opportunities and challenges posed by AI.” The new center is in part a tangible response to the high profile conversation among Steven Hawking, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and other science/technology celebrities centering on the potential of a future AI to create existential risk to human beings and the planet.
